Battle royale shooting title PUBG has the gamers community in awe with a string of announcements and giveaways. After weeks of the report, its long-awaited update was released on July 13, 2022, as announced by Krafton Games, but a July 12 tweet about hosting a virtual in-game Blackpink concert has put the internet on fire.

The newest map Deston is the first battlefield to be released since the game went free to play earlier this year. It includes new modes, collaboration, and the gamers who will update the game until July 17 will receive 3,000 BP, 100 AG and a Wild Rave Helmet (3d). The map is live for PC players, but console players have to wait till July 21.

The new map features a city that got partially submerged after being hit by a massive hurricane. The setting gives the battlefield a blend of rich vegetation in some areas and colossal cities in others. The map has an urban center called Ripton, a downtown locality with the game’s most significant urban sprawl. The city also houses the tallest skyscraper built in-game to date.

New content has been added through Cycle 3 Season 7 and Royale Pass Month 13 to equip PUBG Mobile that is going to host first ever in-game concert that will feature K-pop girl group Blackpink. The in-game concert titled “The Virtual” coincides with Blackpink’s much anticipated return to music in August after the group’s last album in 2020. The update has also added a new theme game mode, Ancient Secret: Arise.

Prior to this, PUBG’s battle royale game rival Fortnite has hosted various concerts by the likes of Travis Scott and Ariana Grande in the past, but this is the first time for the Tencent-backed popular game to host a show after it became the second highest earning mobile game worldwide with approximately $218 million in gross revenue in April this year according to Sensor Tower.

The virtual concert will feature a Special Track and new music video, designed and created specifically for this collaboration. Krafton said in a press release those fans who attend the concert in-game would also get a custom-made performance suit skin that the performers will wear. These outfits will be available from July 23 through August 31.
