South Korea’s Nexon is one game publisher that can keep its fan interested. As the release date, June 28, creeps in closer for one of the most anticipated games DNF Duel a spin-off developed jointly by Arc System Works, Eighting and Neople, the Arc System Works’ Twitch channel is keeping the fans hooked with teasers released at regular intervals.
Publisher Nexon released the opening movie on Tuesday, June 22, with a big tease near the end of a bearded warrior with scars on his body. As fans were speculating him to be the lost warrior from Dungeon Fighter Online, as teased earlier on the box art, the new combatant is, The Transcended, a space-time manipulator. Developer Arc System Works revealed the new character on June 22, 2022.
DNF Duel, Nexon’s fighting game based on the Dungeon Fighter franchise, has already revealed its other characters like the Launcher, Troubleshooter, Swift Master and Enchantress, to name a few. As teased in the trailer video, he is the last fighter on the game’s list and faces endless trials. The 16th and final fighter is The Transcended, released on Wednesday.
DNF Duel, which launches on June 28 for PS4, PS5 and PC, is based on Dungeon and Fighter RPG, which launched in 2005 on PC in South Korea. Known as Dungeon Fighter online, it is one of the most-played video games of all time that made its way to the west in 2010. However, it was shut down in the west in 2013, only to be relaunched in 2015 in English.
Recognized as one of the highest grossing games of all time with over $18 billion as lifetime revenue till December 2021, the game also has Japanese Manga and anime based on the franchise. Fans have been waiting eagerly since Nexon announced the release of the spin-off DNF duel in the summer of 2022.
The new game ready for release is a 2.5D action fighting game with 16 charming characters, each with distinct skills and personalities. The game will be available in various modes. Local modes include free battle, story mode, arcade mode, and survival mode. Online Mode is for a ranked match, player match and ranking. Additionally, players will have a practice mode for training and tutorials.
