Everybody loved Pokemon when it was released. After that, multiple other companies tried to clone the idea recently. But, it is time for Pearl Abyss to try its hand at a Pokemon-like game. DokeV is supposed to be different from the previous Pokemon-likes that the gaming industry has seen in recent years. DokeV promises to base the plot of the game on Korean folklore. This may be because Pearl Abyss is a Korea-based company. Before DokeV, there were Monster Sanctuary, Temtem, Slime Rancher, and many more.

In the Gamescom 2021 held in Germany, Pearl Abyss revealed their upcoming game. Other than that, they had also disclosed the game in Pearl Abyss Connect 2019. But, DokeV has changed a lot since then. One of the many differences is that it is not being described as an MMO anymore. The Gamescom launch was more of a world premiere. They shared a trailer for the event. Later, when it was released on YouTube, it managed to get millions of views. It is more of an open-world creature capturing game. From what the trailer has to offer, it seems to be a mixture of influence from Pokemon.

Pearl Abyss stated that “DokeV was initially introduced as an MMO, but we decided to move the game in a different direction and it’s now a creature-collecting open world action-adventure.” They also added “but regardless of genre, we are going for fun, vibrant and adventurous!” according to Gamesradar.

What to Expect?

As mentioned earlier, DokeV is a Pokemon-like creature-collecting open-world action-adventure game. Now let us dive deep into knowing what we can expect from this upcoming Korean folklore-based game. You will find cute critters who are Korean spirits spread around the urban world. Yes, you have got it right. Your duty will be to catch those creatures right away. To see them you can use a variety of transportation. You can try to skate around the city, travel on a jet ski on water, paraglide to pierce through the air, and swing from the sky with magic rope.

What’s even better? As background score, Pearl Abyss has added some catchy K-pop music. These small details make it a unique Korean Pokemon-like game. If you have played Splatoon or Chaotic Energy, you may get a familiar feeling. The trailer of the game was an absolute visual treat for gamers. One of the most cutest revelations was the rideable alpaca. These add-ons are making this game one of a kind.

Platforms It Will Be Available On

Pearl Abyss has not yet been finalized on specific platforms. But, it has given a vague idea that it will be released on PC and console.

If you do some further digging, you will notice that the official YouTube page of the title has asses PS4, Windows, and Xbox in their tags. This may give some of you a sense of which platforms the game will be available on. Till then, nothing can be said about the platform. The tags may have also been added to help the YouTube algorithm blow up the game. We must wait for the official launch to know the platforms this game can be played on.

More On the Background Score

Another critical element of the trailer was the background score. It is a K-pop song called ROCKSTAR by Galacticka. You can easily download this game through the official website of DokeV. There is also a remix version available that you can download.

The track is funky and catchy. Once you play the trailer, this song is going to linger in your head for hours. The K-pop song fits perfectly with the anime-like gameplay and visuals of the game.

DokeV Release Date

Till today, Pearl Abyss has kept its mouth shut on a proper release date of DokeV. But, we might be able to enjoy this vivid anime world in early to mid-2022. This game is still in development, which may be why there is still no release date. However, Pearl Abyss has promised to reveal a release window later.

Many sources claim that this game was to launch in 2020. However, the delay may be a result of various issues faced during the development of the game.

The Gameplay of DokeV

Formerly an MMO, this game has been transformed into a creature-catching game. This transition was wholly done during the development. During the 2019 Pearl Abyss connect, this game was announced to be MMO. But, in the recent Gamescom held in 2021 August, they mentioned it no longer being an MMO.

In this Korean anime-style game DokeV, the bright monster collector will collect monsters around the urban world. These monsters are known as Dokebi. DokeV monsters are rather cute than scary. These monsters will later help DokeV to fight the evils in the city. However, there is still no word on how the players will be catching these monsters. The gameplay revealed how the players could travel underwater and even ride a cute llama. You may even get to enjoy special activities like flying kites or fishing. The trailer even reveals some hints on decorating in the game. There was a character that was setting an intriguing pole.

In DokeV, you will be offered weapons and friendly monsters to help you in combat. You may even take a small ally to combat.

DokeV Trailer

Many fans aspired to see the gameplay featured in the trailers, but it was just a three-minute cinematic clip. The character, probably DokeV, is skating through a lively metropolis filled with cute characters and shops. You will also catch some characters busy fishing.

But, things get more challenging. The player character starts riding a parachute and even a car to join a battle against a monster. The next thing you see is DokeV pairing up with friendly monsters to defeat the powerful one.

Concluding Thoughts

Once you have seen the trailer, you will find the game familiar with other titles. It may be a monster-catching game, but it has an ample amount of opportunities and activities lying ahead of you. Unfortunately, there is still way too much time to play this game. A slight ray of hope says it may get released next year. Many will say that this game is a cross between Pokemon Go and Monster Hunter. This is primarily because it has a familiarity with both the games. The trailer has been extraordinarily intriguing and makes fans want this game even more. Let us all wait patiently for Pearl Abyss to announce a launch date and reveal more information on platforms.
