Gamescom 2022 began on August 23 in Cologne, Germany. The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley hosted the two-hour Opening Night Live presentation. The event was also live-streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

The Opening Night Live broadcast featured updates for more than 30 games, including Dead Island 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Gotham Knights, and Sonic Frontiers. While gaming has had a quieter year, Gamescom 2022 looks to be a bold comeback following the pandemic with the latest on new and upcoming titles.

South Korea, the fourth largest global gaming market due to its vibrant gaming culture, is showcasing 15 game development companies at their Pavilion, which is being organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). According to their official website, the 15 companies chosen by KOCCA will share insights about business opportunities, investments, software issues, and other topics at the event.

The Highlights of the open night live

The release date for Dead Island 2 has been set for February 2023.

The bloodthirsty Zombie role-playing game is set to be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. According to the additional gameplay trailer, players can expect everything they loved about the original Dead Island games, including physics-heavy melee combat, eccentric characters, and violence.

The ‘Anniversary Update for Age of Empires IV will be released on October 25.

World’s Edge, the developer of Age of Empires IV, has revealed new content for the game, including the arrival of the Ottomans and Malians, expanding its roster of historical civilizations. The new additions will be available as part of an anniversary update on October 25, marking one year since the release of the real-time strategy title, which is accessible to all players.

EVERYWHERE teaser trailer has been released.

The developer Build a Rocket Boy’s Everywhere teaser trailer shows shooting, driving, explosions, space, and what appears to be an open world. The game Everywhere is set to be released in 2023.

The gameplay for The Expanse: A Telltale Series debuted during Opening Night Live.

Telltale Games announced The Wolf Among Us 2 and The Expanse: A Telltale Series for late 2021 and early 2022, and one finally gets to see some gameplay of the latter.

Dune: Awakening, a new open-world survival MMO from Funcom, has been announced.

Funcom, Level Infinite, and Legendary Entertainment are collaborating on the adaptation of the famous sci-fi novel. The trailer featured Dune franchise iconographies, such as the massive sand worm and dragonfly-like helicopters. The release date has not been set.

The first gameplay trailer for Lies of P was shown during Opening Night Live.

Lies of P is a highly anticipated Soulslike that combines Victorian and steampunk aesthetics with a story heavily inspired by Pinocchio. During Opening Night Live, it received a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the protagonist’s versatile prosthetic arm (think Sekiro), combat encounters, boss fights, story cutscenes, and more.

Gotham Knights have released a new “Villains” trailer, which will be available from October 21.

Gotham Knights, the upcoming DC action RPG, made an appearance on Opening Night Live with a new “Villains” trailer, showcasing some of the threats players will face in the game. Among them are Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and the Court of Owls. Gotham Knights have a new October release as well.

New Hogwarts Legacy gameplay revealed.

During Opening Night Live, new gameplay from the upcoming Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy was shown, giving fans a look at the questline involving Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow. The end of the gameplay trailer also revealed that preorders for the game will be available on August 25, with the game set to launch on February 10, 2023.
