When it comes to keeping players entertained, miHoYo surely wins the race. So when you unravel the story of Raiden Shogun with just three of six islands of Inazuma, another update is here. miHoYo spontaneously drops an update of Genshin Impact every six weeks without fail. In this update, players are expecting access to two more additional islands Seirai and Watatsumi.

No doubt Inazuma was a fun ride from mesmerizing fireworks to fighting god, but there are more mysteries to it. These secrets will be unleashed in the 2.1 updates. Even the key NPCs which were a part of the 2.0 update but weren’t accessible will be so with the new update.

Most of the details that we came to know are due to the data mining and beta tests. But, all thanks to the version’s recent program held, we got a glimpse of additional features in version 2.1. So, if you are eager to know more about the game, keep on reading.

Release Date

The version’s special program shed light on multiple things about the game, one of which was the release date. The 2.1 version of Genshin Impact will be released on 1st September 2021. So buckle up for an even more enchanted ride with this new update.

Who Got Featured In Genshin Impact 2.1 Banner?

The initial banner of Genshin Impact version 2.1 is Reign of Serenity. This banner is set to go live on September 1st. It will feature Raiden Shogun and Kujou Sara.

The second banner is Drifting Luminescence which is known to go live on 21st September. This banner is known to feature Kokomi.

Genshin Impact 2.1 Characters

The banners are enough to give you an idea about the new characters to be introduced in the 2.1 version. Let’s talk about the characters revealed through the banners and others as well –

  • Kujou Sara

A four-star Electro archer and the general of Tenryou Commission Kujou Sara will feature in the first poster and the new version along with Raiden Shogun. You might catch few glimpses of her from her appearance during the Inazuma Archon quest, which includes the fight of the resistance and the Shogunate. She is related to the Tengu tribe known for being black-winged warriors and for their speed. She will be known for her loyalty to Raiden Shogun.

  • Raiden Shogun

Remember the battle of Archon quest? Raidan Shogun was the character you fought in Archon Quest. This Electro Archon, a five-star Electro polearm-wielder, also goes by the name Baal. She is responsible for achieving eternity by collecting visions and setting them in a statue. She is even the de-facto leader of Inazuma.

  • Kokomi

If there’s anyone responsible for Resistance being alive for this long, then it has to be Kokomi. Sangonomiya Kokomi is the Priestess of Watatsumi. She is a healer and a five-star Hydro catalyst user. However, her commendable strategy and leadership skills have made it possible for Resistance to survive. You will see her in the second banner of the 2.1 version.

  • Aloy

Even though she isn’t part of any of the two posters, she will make your experience better with the 2.1 version. She is a free five-star bow user. Unfortunately, this red-head huntress, a crossover from Horizon Zero Dawn, will only be initially available for PS4 and PS5 users. If you are not a PS4 or PS5 user, you will have to wait for another six weeks for the 2.2 version to experience her wrath.

What About Yae Miko?

The Grand Priestess of the Shrine of Grand Narukumi, who showed up during the Archon Quest Chapter 2 Act 1, might have a bigger role in this version. Unfortunately, her role in Chapter 2, Act 1, was short-lived and left players wanting more of her.

Will Scaramouche Make A Return?

Hold your breath because Scaramouche is sure to make his return in this 2.1 update. Once you start playing the Archon Quest, his origin story will gradually unbridle in front of your eyes.

What Will Be the New Locations?

With this update, we will be getting two islands – Seirai and Watatsumi.

Seirai

Seirai seems to be a dark and ruined territory immersed in an empowering thunderstorm. It might have met with some bizarre disaster at some point in the past. This territory has a talking black cat which is a priestess to a shrine. The shrine might be the location where you will have to battle with the Electro Oceanid boss. Raiden might have control over this island.

Watatsumi

Whereas Watatsumi is more of a wholesome location featuring pastel yet dense forest. This is where Kokomi and Sangonomiya Resistance live. This island might unleash in-depth details about Kokomi. It surely contradicts the strong vibrancy of the first 3 islands of Inazuma.

This leaves the last island – Tsurumi of the Inazuma map.

Bosses to Fight In Version 2.1

Only a few impact bosses, including two new Overworld bosses – Hydro Hypostasis or World Boss and Hydro Oceanid or Thunder Manifestation and the Trounce Domain boss – Signora were revealed. Let’s dig deep into the details of the bosses –

  • Signora

Signora will have a delusion form, quite the same as Childe. She can even use Pyro and Cyro. Ready yourself to face her every week, as she will be the new weekly boss of this version.

  • Hydro Oceanid

Thunder Manifestation or  Hydro Oceanid will have almost a similar form to that of Oceanid. The design of this Boss will have purple accents and sharp edges. You might have to fight this one at Seirai island.

  • Hydro Hypostasis

It will be more of an elemental cube with the dominance of blue to resemble its Element. It may be the one to drop materials required by the new characters.

Events in Genshin Impact Version 2.1

Several events will keep you busy and entertained with the 2.1 version. Let’s have a brief look at the events –

  • Lunar Realm

This event will be centered around the newly introduced Fishing System, part of the same update.

  • Moonlight Merriment

This upcoming event, a part of the new update, will be woven into Keqing and might consist of Festival Oculus Collecting and Treasure Hunting.

  • Hyakunin Ikki

This event will make travelers fight several enemies all at once for some hard-to-miss rewards. In addition, this can be a great means to test your and your team’s skills.

  • Spectral Secrets

If you have played the Vishaps and Where To Find Them Event, this one may look similar to you. You can make your character win amazing rewards from this event.

  • New Log-In Event

With this event, you can Log-in for consecutive 10 days within the date of the event and win 10 free Acquaint Fate.

  • Top-Up Event

The Top-Up Event or Double Genesis Crystal Event will enable you to receive twice the amount of Genesis crystal once you purchase the bundle for the first time. However, this will be available for the Chinese Server. Whether other servers will get this even or not is yet to be confirmed.

Is There A New Fishing System?

If you were using Klee’s bombs so far to fish, you could wave goodbye to them now. Instead, you will be able to use a rod for fishing from different water bodies. Once you catch a fish, you can add it to the ponds in the Teapot you have.

What Will Be the New Quests?

The 2.1 version will have four quests. Take a look at them –

  • Raiden Shogun Story Quest

You will witness a continuation of Raiden Shogun’s quest in the new version of 2.1.

  • Aloy Story Quest

Aloy, the creation of the crossover of Horizon and Genshin Impact, will have a story quest of her own.

  • Kokomi Story Quest

The story quest of Resistance vs. the Vision Decree Hunters might have a continuation in this 2.1 update.

  • New Archon Quest

Omnipresence Over Mortals will be a part of the 2.1 version. Thus, you can start the quest when you meet to reach the level.

What Are the New Weapons Introduced in this Version?

Like any other player, you too might be excited to know about the weapons introduced in the new version. Well, without further ado, check out the new weapons –

  • Luxurious Sea-Lord  – Type – Claymore; How to Get – Event Reward

  • The Catch – Type – The Catch; How to Get – Event Reward
