By the name, it may feel like Witcher is just the story about Geralt of Rivia but, it is not! It is much more than that. The story of Witcher carefully weaves the character development of the side character as well. This is what makes the game larger than life! Thanks to Netflix for bringing this game to the limelight. The game remained in the ‘underhyped’ zone for a long time before Netflix released the series.

If you are a dark fantasy video game enthusiast, not playing Witcher can make you lose on an experience of life. The adventure and exploitation of Geralt are not as complicated as you think. It is 8 books and 3 games long but, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is unnecessarily dragged. Witcher promises to keep you glued to your seat till the climax. When it comes to fetching quests, there is no lack of it. Geralt of Rivia or the White Wolf or the Butcher of Blaviken primarily hunts down monsters. But, he often finds himself tangled in the complications of men.

Anyone thinking of playing this game might want to go through the characters and the storyline in-depth. Hence, without further ado, let’s dive into the world of Butcher of Blaviken.

Butcher of Blaviken – Geralt of Rivia

An orphan, Geralt of Rivia, or The Witcher, can mutate, which gives him an edge at killing monsters. People depend upon his training and impressive skills for getting their jobs done. Even though he is an orphan, he has managed to build makeshift families with Yennefer and Ciri. Batteling with monsters, magic, ancient prophecies, and grudges of years make his life far from ordinary. Let’s slowly ease into the world of Geralt.

The Witcher

Geralt is found face down in the mud while he suffers from severe amnesia. For anyone who has read the books will get the idea that the game is self-contained. In the first part of the game, you will witness Geralt dealing with Salamandra, the criminal organization. This organization starts stealing the mutagens at the beginning of the game. Mutagens are used to create witchers. Hence, it is quite useless to say that this will be the driving notion of the game, hunting the Salamandra down. But, Geralt somehow ends up assassinating Jacques de Aldersberg. He intended to create superhuman warriors with the stolen mutagens.

At the end of the game, Geralt is seen receiving a reward for saving the King at the King Foltest of Temeria’s palace. Here he kills an assassin to save the king. In addition, the soon-to-be assassin’s eyes are revealed, which resemble the eyes of a cat. Between all these, Geralt gets to encounter and also an option to battle King of the Wild Hunt’s specter.

The Witcher 2

After the heroic stunned Geralt saved the king, he was interrogated by the head of the Blue Stripes, the secret service of Temeria. But he later is appointed as the King’s bodyguard. Unfortunately, however, he is more of an imprisoner and is not left with much choice here. He also finds Zoltan and Dandelion, who are his best friends, to be hanged. So Geralt has to negotiate the release of the two with Bernard Loredo, the local Commandment.

With multiple battles and complicated situations, he arrives at Aedirn, just when a battle began between King Henselt and the Dwarven city of Veegen. Based on who he chooses to be loyal to his residence for a while will be decided. He later finds out about a curse that must be lifted. Among all of this, Triss, the sorceress, was kidnapped. At the end of the 3rd chapter, he will have to decide whether to save Triss from Nilfgaardians or rescue Philippa Elihart from Redanians. In between all this, he faces a dragon. But has to decide whether to kill it or not.

The Wither 3

The story starts with the witcher in Kaer Morhan’s guest room training Ciri while Wild Hunt attacks them. But, this ends up being a dream. He realizes it was years ago when he last met Ciri and Yennefer. Nevertheless, Geralt and Vesemir set out to find Yennefer. During this journey, they get to face a defeat, Griffin. In return, they received information on Yennefer. They came to know she rode to Vizima. Yennefer herself interrupts their voyage. She tries to lure her into Vizima. Geralt is appointed to find Emperor Emhyr’s daughter. This is where Triss, too, joins their team in the mission to find Ciri.

Geralt is somehow seen traveling alone, looking for the emperor’s spy Hendrik. He, at last, starts getting clues on Ciri. After joining clues from Phillip Strenger, he starts looking for her again, which will gradually lead him to Novigard. This is where he has to decide to choose the lesser evil. He also meets his lover and long-time friend, Keira Metz. One thing leading to another, and Geralt ends up in a fight with the Wild Hunt. Here he comes to know about the ones Ciri might have messed up with. However, whether Geralt finds her or not will be in your hands to decide.

Concluding Thoughts

Basically, the decisions you have taken in the long run will help or make you regret them. Moreover, many of the incidents mentioned above might alter according to the steps and decisions you take. Hence, you are advised to take wisely make your choices. The final installment of the game is where a huge deal of political conclave will take place. this is to decide the future of the Northern Kingdoms.

The Witcher 3 was among the most praised and critically acclaimed role-playing games of the year of its release. If you haven’t yet tried your hands at this beautiful game, make sure you do that pretty soon. It is a single-player game, but it hardly makes you feel bored or droning. On the contrary, it keeps the player wanting for more even after it ends. Once you start with the game, you will hardly regret the decision.
