Characters of Witcher

It’s true what they say. Characters are the life of any game. But, moreover, when it is about role-playing games, you can’t shrug off this fact.

The Witcher franchise is among the best role-playing game of all time, and its characters should be praised for that. The characters are intricate, well-developed, unforgettable, and unique. The characters make the journey through the extraordinary game. It is hard to not fall in love with at least one character from The Witcher.

CD Projekt and CD Projekt RED made it a priority to make every character remarkable. Some are remembered for their legendary persona and others for their classic monstrousness. Believe it or not, the characters of this game are what is going to keep you glued to it for hours. The game is mostly story-driven, in which the characters act as the most significant element of all.

If the characters weren’t this dynamic and classy, the wouldn’t have achieved half of the popularity as it has now. However, according to us, we will be listing some of the most remarkable and memorable characters from the game. So without any further ado, let’s get to know some of the most unforgettable characters from The Witcher.

  • Geralt of Rivia

Yes, we know it is a prominent name. We are trying to justice to this piece. He might seem like an angry and grumpy Witcher, but there is so much more to him. He is the main lead of the game and a character you will genuinely relate to. He is considered an outcast by society yet saves the same from devilish creatures. But in the last instalment of the game, you will find him making human choices. This shows us how he is becoming less and less selfish with every passing day. The more we talk about this character, is less.

  • Yennefer of Vengerberg

If complications and mystery were a person, it would surely be Yennefer. But, no matter how difficult it is to understand, you will fall in love with the way she carries herself. She doesn’t care much about anyone other than “Ciri”. She knows how to get things done and doesn’t think twice to speak her mind. You will catch her not caring about people’s opinion when it doesn’t match with hers. Yennefer also does not care about what people think of her. However, she is also another love interest of Geralt right after Triss. Geralt somehow finds her irresistible.

  • Vesemir

Vesemir has to be the ultimate mentor. He is truly a mentor that everyone else dreams of. When needed, he can be the best critic to you, giving out honest pieces of advice. But, he is also someone who is always there to pick you up. His words aren’t hollow. Vesemir always has his blade to support what he says. Vesemir was also a Witcher once, but he is way past that life. Nevertheless, he still possesses superhuman power and carries it with ease. He is a mentor to Ciri and teaches her about several monsters spread over the territory.

  • Triss Merigold

The character development of Triss Merigold is the most human one. Triss happens to be the best sorcerer in Temeria. She is the first love interest of Witcher. At one point, Geralt will have to decide whether to confess his love or let Triss go. Triss loves both Geralt and Ciri. Thus, you will witness her helping both of them with all her life. She assists in training Ciri with sisterly love. Without any hint of doubt, she can be labelled the most astonishing older sister. You will catch her more than once throughout the game, assisting either Geralt or Ciri.

  • Dandelion

Dandelion is the most liked bard, and he quickly cements a spot in this list. But, come up with another entertaining character, and we will wait. There is absolutely no way that he will ever fail to keep you amused. One peek at his journal entries, and you would know what a charming character he is. However, he may seem like someone who loves to fool around.

Nevertheless, just an insight into his character will help you understand what a fantastic human he is. He isn’t just comic relief. But a human who is ready to risk his life for the people he loves.

  • Vernon Roche

Trust us or not, you will fall in love with him in The Witcher 2. In the second instalment, he will turn into a loyal brother to Geralt. Of course, you will hate him for what he does initially. But, you will gradually like him after he becomes devoted to Geralt and saves his life. One of the prime elements of his character is his loyalty to his country and unit. His story is not a long one, relatively short-lived. But, it still carries way too much weight. Somehow you will find Geralt always siding with Vernon in a way or the other.

  • Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon

She is none other than the most mentioned character, ‘Ciri’. Geralt’s affection for her is unavoidable. She is one true genius and badass. She lives a simple and plain life, yet however, she will win your heart with bravery. You will see her utilizing her magical abilities like a pro. Ciri also has this unique ability to teleport between foes. She has to be one of the most extraordinary characters that you will come across in this game. You will notice her talking with the blade rather than her mouth most of the time. Other than being a badass, she is gorgeous, entertaining, and charming.

  • Philippa Eilhart

You will be meeting this character in The Witcher 3. She happens to be of great significance. However, you will see many characters acting rather violently in her presence. She is way more than just a witch gone completely crazy to achieve the ultimate power. One can quickly draw similarities between Philippa and Che Guevara. She seems to be a freedom fighter but ends up terrorizing. She will be a part of a sub-quest in the game. But that isn’t the end of her significance. It is better to play the third game to know more about this character.

  • Lambert

You may not really like this character, but you cannot avoid his importance in this game. Lambert shows us how cruel the mutation and training to become a witcher is. Geralt indeed is a heroic witcher, but Lambert shows us what goes behind making one. You will witness Lambert and Geralt sharing some brother-like moments. He is also the one to give us some insight into the past of Geralt. Nevertheless, Lambert seems unable to accept what has become of him and thus instantly becomes an interesting character.

  • Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff Godefroy

He is assuming that you have been introduced to vampires before. But, have you ever in your life come across a calm vampire who talks logic? Well, surely not. This is the magic of Witcher. It brings out some of the most outstanding and unique characters the gaming world has ever seen. More to your surprise, you will see him as an excellent friend to Geralt. He is one eloquent and respected vampire. Emiel is also one of the very few characters who indulge in the whole matter of Geralt. He can also catch Geralt when his defences are lowered. All of this adds more and more charm to this unique character.

  • Emhyr var Emreis

Many players out there feel a strong need for a good villain, and Emhyr in Witcher fits that role. He is the best, major, and baddest villain you will encounter in the whole Witcher franchise. He is ruthless, has less to no emotions, and has the ideal immersive voice for an antagonist. He is the heartless and strict ruler of Nilgaardian, alongside being a father and a husband. However, when it comes to his enemies, he doesn’t show a hint of mercy or emotion. His character, too, is complex, but it just makes it even more enjoyable. Emhyr is one of the most captivating characters of the entire franchise.

Concluding Thoughts

This was it for now! If you tend to play this game any soon, make it a point to know all of the characters well. Try not to come to a judgment soon! The franchise has more to offer than just Geralt. He is the main character, but he is not the end but the beginning of many fascinating characters. It is hard to keep yourself falling for characters like Geralt, Ciri, Triss, Vernon, Dandelion, and many more. Once they come on the screen, you can be sure to be spellbound for moments to come. The characters have made this game epic. One cannot think of Witcher without these legendary characters. These are simply a list of best characters according to us. Nevertheless, your choices may differ.
