Battlegrounds Mobile India will be replacing PUBG Mobile in India after the game got banned back in September 2020 by The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology along with 118 other Chinese apps, as it was ‘prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State, and Public Order.’
Since then, fans were pretty disappointed as PUBG Mobile, one of the most popular mobile games and its ban, hit the gaming industry in India pretty hard as it pushed the gaming industry and the esports industry forward. But since then, Krafton Inc, developers of PUBG, has been focused on launching a game to replace the popular title as from its initial launch, India has been the prime market for the company as the revenue and the active user base from India were pretty big for the developers.
Finally, Krafton has announced that they will be launching Battlegrounds Mobile India, and as the name suggests, it will be a game that will be specifically launched in India. Battlegrounds Mobile India will also be having its own esports ecosystem, just like Game for Peace in China.
Release Date and Pre-registration
There is no release date out yet for the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, but the pre-registration for the game has already started for Android devices, and if you pre-register yourself, then you will be given some exclusive in-game rewards.
If you haven’t pre-registered yourself, then follow these steps:
- Open Google Playstore on your Android device.
- Search Battlegrounds Mobile India and select the result with Krafton as a publisher or click here.
- You will see an option to pre-register; click on it, and you are now pre-registered.
- You will receive a notification to download the game as soon as it gets released.

Since the game is not yet officially launched, there is no APK file available to download, but once it releases, you can install it using the following steps:
- Download Battlegrounds Mobile India APK and OBB files from the listed links on your device.
- Go to the Downloads folder and install the APK file by tapping the Install button. However, you first need to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources. You can do it by navigating to Settings > Safety and Privacy > Install apps from Unknown Sources.
- After the APK file is installed, move the OBB file to Android > OBB.
- The installation process is now completed, and you can now enjoy the latest content of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
- You can now delete the APK file from the Downloads folder but don’t delete the OBB (data) file.
iOS users were very disappointed about only Android users getting to pre-register, but the game will likely get a release for iOS devices without any pre-registration period.
